Hermione just barely made it into this picture .. see, there she is, way over there on the side, probably feeling kind of left out.
When I went around redesigning all these old characters, I had a bit of a hard time with Hermione... I have a certain image of her and I tried to capture it but more often than not failed.  I kind of like the one here where her mouth is open - the one in the top left looks WAY too girly.

Yeah, Hermione, you stand up to that horrible Malfoy.  This is after the Quidditch World Cup, when certain dark wizards get up to some crazy shenanigans.  Harry looks a lot like Inspector Gadget here, but this is Hermione's page so that's irrelevant.

I'd frequently been asked to draw Hermione at the Yule Ball, but every time I tried I failed miserably.  Even here she doesn't look very formal, very pretty, or very fourteen, but it's the best I could do.

Another attempt at redesigning Hermione, which led to failure... I liked Ron and Harry so much in this one that I had to redesign her, leading to those ones up above.
I drew this picture after a few months at college, where I was so busy drawing school stuff that I didn't draw any Harry Potter.  then one day I was listening to the book on CD and decided to try my hand - and realized that I had learned a LOT about drawing in the last few months and could now draw things I was afraid of drawing before, like Hermione in a 3/4 up shot.  I got so carried away that I paid no attention to the posing and ended up making her look like she was trying to punch her nose.  Bleh.  That's why that hand's not finished. 
this is supposed to be the part in the first book where Hermione says "Malfoy's got detention!  I could sing!"  But now it's "Malfoy's got detention!  I could punch my nose!"
