(left) Walden McNair, executioner for the Department of Magical Creatures, and "coincidentally" one of Mr. Malfoy's ... er ... friends.  This design came so quickly and naturally that I can't help thinking I'm subconsciously ripping someone off... but who?  he's got a very Clayton-esque character but the actual features ... hmm.  I am also baffled as to why he's in Muggle clothing, but it seemed the thing to do.  Maybe I was influenced by the thin moustache and just decided to go '20s all the way.

(below) Harry sees Crookshanks's bottlebrush tail disappear around a corner in the low, mysterious tunnel under the Whomping Willow.  This picture is one of many with scale issues (if Crookshanks is that tall, Harry and Hermione would have to crawl along the tunnel, not just bend over) and would be a lot more effective in colour, or at least shaded, but that will have to wait.

Oooh, it's starting to get exciting!

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is how perspective is supposed to work.  At last I got the perspective software in my hand operating again, and look!  Three dimensions!  Wow.  

I'm sure Ron's foot is supposed to be at a much odder angle than this, but ... too late.  I like the rest of it.  Especially Crookshanks.  You can probably tell I am much more comfortable with cats than I am with dogs.... he looks so cozy!  A total counterpoint to the tone of the scene as a whole.

From the previous shot, pan left and AAAAAH!  IT'S THE CRAZY MAN BEHIND THE DOOR AND HE'S POINTING HIS WAND AT YOU!  RUN!!

While this picture didn't turn out as well as the one above, I sure had a lot of fun drawing it.  The wand-holding hand is evidence of the fortifying powers of using your own hands as reference.  Yay mirrors!

Well, I don't know about you, but I sure can't wait to get to the other pages... heehee...
